Mary Novelli, April 28, 1914 - June 12, 2015 Just a little over 101 years old and what a remarkable woman she was. Most definitely a woman way ahead of her time. Aunt Mary wasn't the gal who sat at home cooking, cleaning and knitting, although I'm sure she did those things, that is not what I remember about her at all. If I were to describe Aunt Mary with three little words they would be "Glitz and Glamour". So tall, not one red hair out of place, nails always professionally manicured, make up on and the most sparkly jewelry and shoes and sequenced clothing I ever saw. Always in black and gold or a beautiful brilliant red with black accents. She was movie star quality. Aunt Mary will always be remembered for her 27,000 plus hours of volunteer service with the American Legion, She loved to give back, to organize and to coordinate and to learn. She was an incredibly smart woman. She must have been since she was one of the first female home appraisers in California with her husband. Aunt Mary sat on a board and helped name the town of Montclair, California where she comes to us from. Winning "Woman of the Year" out of the whole state of California, attending benefits in her honor that got her a seat dining with Governor Regan and Mrs. Regan (soon to be President and First lady). Another event allowed her to opportunity to dine with President and First Lady Bush who she couldn't speak highly enough of. Aunt Mary loved to dance and so she taught dance lessons, was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary for her church and even after moving her to the Tri Cities was the Secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary here at St. Patrick's church in Pasco. Her stories go on and on as you can imagine. As she aged, she had some memory loss, but that only took about a short introduction of who you were and then she remembered everything. This wonderful and amazing woman will be very missed by us all. Thank you Aunt Mary for choosing the Tri Cities as your final destination and home, blessing us with your presence and wisdom. You will be very missed by us all!!! Love Susie! She was preceded in death by her son, Larry DeVries, her sister, Anne Martin, brothers Joe Erdman, and Otto Erdman, niece JoAnne Johnson, and nephew Danny Martin. She is survived by nieces and nephews Sharon (Gary) Hoeft, Donald (Kaye) Erdman, Judy DeHart, William (Debbie) Erdman, and John (Annette) Erdman; David Erdman, Caroline Stampfli and Devon Johnson, and Vikki Johnson, plus many great nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Thursday, June18, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with the Rosary at 6:30pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco. The mass will be Friday, June 19, 2015 at 12:00pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in California
