Lynne Parke, beloved wife, mother, and guiding light of four generations, died peacefully at her home in Kennewick, Washington on June 18, 2011, after a year-long struggle with cancer. Lynne was born in Savanna, Illinois on July 4, 1943, to Arthur and Nataline Tusberg. She spent her early years with her parents and brothers, Artie and Steve, on a farm near Montevideo, Minnesota, and then moved to Moscow Idaho in 1952 when her father decided to return to his original trade as a carpenter. Lynne graduated from Moscow High School in June 1961, and was also voted Miss Moscow, 1961 in the local beauty contest. After a short marriage to Robert Sharrett she returned to Moscow in 1964 with her two year old son, Michael, and enrolled in the University of Idaho. In December of that year she met her future second husband and life-long companion, John M Mike Parke. Lynne and Mike Parke were married on August 26, 1965 in her parent's house on 8th street in Moscow. After their marriage Lynne worked as bookkeeper and grocery checker for two years while Mike completed his requirements for a degree in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation Mike accepted a position at the Hanford Site, and the couple moved to the Tri-Cities in September 1967. After a few months in an apartment in Richland they bought a house and moved to Kennewick in December of the same year. Lynne was interested in real estate and for a time she and Mike owned a number of apartments and other investment properties in the Tri-Cities, which Lynne managed. Lynne's first priority, however, was always with her family. When she sensed that her professional life might have a negative impact on her children she dropped out of real estate and devoted the rest of her life to being a homemaker and family counselor for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her advice and insight was always well considered and she will be sorely missed by everyone. Lynne had very good artistic abilities and enjoyed many hobbies over the years. She did paintings, ceramics, and sculptures with excellent results. Towards the end she gained a local reputation for her semi-precious stone necklaces and bracelets, which sold well at trade fairs. Lynne is survived by her husband Mike and four children: Michael Shawn Parke of Campbellsport Wisconsin, Kari Kristine Dave Bauer of Benton City Washington, John Kristoffer Terri Parke of Kennewick Washington, and Julia Eileen Jesse Minor of Kennewick, Washington. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother. In accordance with her wishes Lynne was cremated on Monday June 20th following a private family viewing. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24th at 2 p.m. at Mueller's Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick.
