Lloyd Richard Carnahan, age 85, of Benton City, Washington passed away on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Lloyd was great friend, husband, father, and grandfather. His passion for life was an inspiration to many and he will be greatly missed. Lloyd was born to Lloyd S. and to Neva A. Carnahan on May 19,1937 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He was the third of five children. They moved the family out to Benton City, Washington in 1947. He was raised on a small farm. He graduated from Kiona-Benton High School in 1956. He followed in his father's shoes and pursued a career as a commercial plumber. He was a part of the UA Local 598 (50+ yrs.). Lloyd met Ann in 1969 at the square-dancing hall. They were set up by a mutual friend who thought they would be great for each other. Lloyd and Ann got married on May 2, 1970. They raised their three boys, Tony, Scott, and Stan. He supported them in school, sports, and their interests. After Lloyd retired from Apollo, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. One of the things that he enjoyed was to go to team practices and games to watch his grandchildren. He helped out the team and coaches whenever they needed. He got a kick out of the whole team calling him Grandpa. It put a big smile on his face. He had 30+ Years of Service to the Citizens of Benton City. He served as a Benton City Council Member as well as a Benton City Mayor. He helped put in the plumbing for the Community Center and The First United Methodist Church. He was one of the many volunteers that helped build the skateboard park. He served on Benton-Franklin Council of Governments (32 yrs.), Small Cities and CEDS committees, Benton City Irrigation, and Benton County Mosquito Control. Some of his favorite things to do were to be outside working in the field, tending to the cattle, helped the community by giving back, joking around with his family and friends, road trips with his favorite snacks of Cheetos and a Pepsi, snowball fights, card games, board games, reading westerns, watching westerns, and jigsaw puzzles. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 52 years Ann Carnahan, sons Tony, Stan, grandchildren Dani, Beau, Tatum, brother Bob K (Karen) of Scottsdale, Arizona, sister Linda (Ed) of Piper City, Illinois, and many other family and friends. Lloyd is proceeded in death by his parents Lloyd S. Carnahan and Neva Sappingfield, sister Shirley, brother Stan, son Scott. A graveside service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Evergreen Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Muller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home at 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022.
