Lee Reeder Andersen, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on May 5, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family. Lee was born December 16, 1919, in Brigham City, Utah, the fifth of seven children. As a young boy he started helping his father and older brother, Wynn, with the farm work. This early training firmly established the habit of hard work that played such a major role in his life. Lee attended school in Brigham City and after high school graduation he worked as a typist and loan officer for Pine Loan Company. In 1941 he left to serve a mission in Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After serving honorably for 2 ½ years he returned home and then shortly left for Camp Lee, Virginia, for military training. After 2 months his sweetheart, Delone Baty, joined him and they were married in Chevy Chase, Maryland, on May 27, 1944. In November of that year they traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they were sealed in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Lee served in the military until December of 1945 when he and Delone returned to Utah and began their family. Five children were born to them: Kristene, Douglas Lee, Ted Richard, Cheryl and Alisa. Lee worked as a postal worker and served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Stake Mission President, Bishop and Stake Presidency Counselor. In 1963 the family moved to Othello, Washington and started farming near Basin City on a farm that Lee had acquired in a selective drawing available to veterans. He loved farming and the outdoors and farmed in several locations around the Columbia Basin before settling on a farm north of Pasco where the family has lived for the past 36 years. The most important things in the life of this great and noble man were his family and his church. He and Delone served as workers in the Seattle L.D.S. Temple for 13 years. He performed all church assignments with exactness and love. He set the example for all his family and associates, of true Christian living. He is preceded in death by his wife, Delone Baty Andersen, his daughter, Cheryl Stinson, granddaughter Abby Andersen, one brother and 4 sisters. He is survived by his children: Kristene Steve Hymas, Princeton, Idaho; Douglas Rosanne Andersen, Basin City, Washington, Ted Elizabeth Andersen, Provo, Utah; Alisa Roy Meyer, Pasco, Washington, and over 100 grand and great-grand children. The family wishes to thank all who have visited and comforted Dad during this last year. That kindness and love are deeply appreciated.
