August 10, 1958 - February 15, 2022
Kevin Peterson, a lifelong resident of Kennewick, passed away from natural causes on February 15th 2022. He was born August 10th, 1958 between his older siblings Donna (Bill) Carpenter and Bob (Vicki) Peterson and his younger sister Karen (Rick) Johnston. His nieces and nephews Scott Carpenter, Shondra Carpenter, Shelsey Robertson, Matthew Johnston, Jennifer Johnston, and Elena Peterson brought him great joy. Kevin was a generous uncle and often reflected that the "kids" kept him young and brought out the best part of him. Kevin was preceded in death by his father Robert and mother Dorothy. Kevin enjoyed tinkering on motorcycles and cars, since he was a kid. He developed a lead foot at an early age, with the ensuing mayhem providing multiple opportunities to become fast friends with the local police force. By the age of 15 he was already a budding car enthusiast working his first job at Joe Bonners Garage, honing the mechanical skills that earned him the nickname "Go to Guy" from his friends. Kevin was always willing to help fix any "POS" that came along, for better or worse. After graduating from Kamiakin High School Kevin earned an AA degree in autobody and then shifted from cars to boats, working as a certified marine mechanic at Metz Marina and later moving to Northwest Marine and Sport. He supported the Water Follies with his time and expertise for years, manning the rescue boats during the hydroplane races and providing mechanical assistance on the emergency response equipment. Kevin was always up for an adventure. He would jump on a less than reliable motorcycle for a trip down the coast, piece of cake. Race a mini hydro on the Columbia, no problem. Travel through Europe and Asia; there were no bounds. He always had some sort of a perpetual mystery project going that would drive his interests. He was a free spirit who reveled in life and kept things simple. He loved his family, working on cars, riding Harleys, and hanging out with friends. Kevin was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park (10th and Union Street) in Kennewick on April, 23rd at 1pm. Celebration of life will immediately follow the service. Kevin always enjoyed a good barbeque, come join.
