On June 2nd, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, Keith Greenough Sr. left this world to spend eternity in the presence of the heavenly Father. Keith was born on March 8th, 1931 to Catherine and Jesse Greenough, Sr. in Norris, South Dakota. The family moved to the Yakima Valley when Keith was a child where he spent his younger years helping his parents on the farm. Keith enlisted in the army in 1949 and served in the Korean War. While serving he earned five Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Occupation Medal and Presidential Unit Citation Bronze Star Medal. After honorable discharge, he returned to the Yakima Valley to continue farming with the family. In 1954 Keith moved to the Tri-Cities to start a career at the Hanford site. He worked as a laborer, bus driver, and started his favorite career as a firefighter. Keith worked for the Franklin County Fire District 3 for over 30 years serving as a volunteer firefighter, assistant chief, chief and support staff. He retired after working at the Port of Pasco Industrial Park in maintenance and security. He met his wife Dorothy Miller, a dental assistant, while he was at the dentist office in 1958. Keith and Dorothy married in May of 1962 and enjoyed a 52 year marriage. They were blessed with their son Keith Jr in 1963 and two grandchildren in 1989 and 1991. Keith and Dorothy enjoyed many years of traveling, camping and fishing with their son, family and friends. Keith never lost his love for wood working and created many useful items. He was a member of the National Grange organization and very active in both the Columbia Valley and Franklin County Granges. Keith was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all for his gentle, giving, caring ways. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Cecil and Ervin Greenough. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Keith (Joe) Jr and wife Tina, Grandsons Bryce (Hannah) and Ryan (Megan), brothers Jesse Jr (Nancy), Steve (Jan), and Sister Catherine (Jack), and many loving nieces and nephews. Keith will be laid to rest at Mueller's Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick during a private family gathering. A reception to celebrate Keith's life will be held, on Friday, June 13th, 12:00pm at the Columbia Valley Grange, 6300 W Court St., Pasco, WA and all are invited to attend and share in the fond memories of Keith.
