Kathryn ?Kay? Fritz passed on July 22, 2006 after a brief illness. Her life started on August 5, 1921, in Minot, ND. When she was a small child, her parents, Warren and Maggie Crandell relocated to Washington State finally settling in the Wenatchee Valley. After World War II, she moved to Plain, WA, where she met and married Elroy Fritz. Kay and Elroy were long time members of the Natapoc Grange. They moved to Ellensburg in 1959 where she worked at several retail positions prior to owning the Mode O?Day dress shop. She lived to dance . . . and with her husband was very active for years in the Ellensburg square dance clubs. After retirement, they moved to the Tri-Cities, where she pursued her interests of needlework and crafts. It was a great delight to her selling her crafts at the bazaars. She was very active in the Kennewick Senior Center where she took it upon herself to be the unofficial greeter and endearing herself to everyone with her big open heart. Kay never met a stranger. For several years, she met with her daughter and participated in the Columbia Center Mallwalkers program. Although she was a very talented and creative lady, with many attributes, the one she took the most pride in was her family. Her goal in life from childhood was to have children and be a ?Mom.? Boy, was she ever good at that! No one was ever around her for very long, before they were calling her Momma Kay. Anyone that knew Kay will forever miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elroy, of 52 years, a sister, Doris Fritz and brother, Art Crandell. She is survived by her children Sheri Henson, husband Mel, Star Allen, husband Glen, Susan Didway, husband John and Larry Fritz, wife Mona. Also, surviving are eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. We will be remembering Kay with a memorial service on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller?s Tri-Cities, 1401 S. Union St, Kennewick, WA.
