Obituary

Kate Moore Darrington was born in Forbes, North Dakota on July 16, 1919 and passed away on July 9, 2007, which was her 67th Wedding Anniversary, at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pasco, WA. She was fifth of twelve children. Kate attended school at Barnard, and married Robert Darrington on July 9, 1940. They moved to Umatilla, Oregon looking for work, and moved many times for the next several years, living in many small towns in Oregon and Idaho. Kate and her sister, Millie, lived together in St. Maries, Idaho with four small children, between the two of them, while their husbands fought in World War II. From there, Bob and Kate moved to Lewiston, Idaho, for a few years. In 1956, they moved their family to the Eltopia area when they drew a unit in the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. It took a strong Pioneer Spirit to survive those first few, harsh years. In 2005, Bob and Kate finally retired and moved to their current house in Pasco, WA. Kate loved her church, her flowers and her large extended family. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; Edward and Effie Moore, brothers; Nick Moore, Jay Moore, Fred Moore, Bill Moore, Ernie Moore and sister; Millie Holmes. Kate is survived by her husband; Robert at home, children; Robert Darrington of Juneau, AK., Wilma Jack Jones of Eltopia, WA., and Nancy J.J. Danz of Mesa, WA, brothers; Joe Moore, Dick Moore, Don Beulah Moore and sisters; Grace Paul Weinert and Jane Leonard Rousch, six grandchildren; Robert Yvette Darrington of Juneau, AK., Richard Charlotte Darrington of Juneau, AK., Michael Sandra Jones of Nampa, ID., Jacqueline Kate Myles Turner of Orondo, WA., Steven Icyle Danz of Mesa, WA., and Christopher Danz of Redmond, WA., and nine great grandchildren.
