Karen J. (Hess) Sonderman was born November 21, 1942 in Pasco and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Trios Hospital with Hospice in Kennewick on January 7, 2015 at the age of 72. Karen was raised in the Tri-Cities and went to Kennewick High School. She then moved to Seattle to pursue a career as a sales associate at Grayson's dress shop, where she met her first husband. They settled down in Wenatchee, WA to raise their three children. Later in life she moved back to the Tri-Cities and married her high school sweetheart. She retired from a long career at Boeing/Westinghouse. Karen was preceded in death by her mother Dayle and father Carl Hess, her brother Mike Hess, step-brother Dave Lewis and husband Carl Sonderman. Karen will forever be remembered by her sister Janice Stickley (Jerry), brother Ken Hess and step-brother Doug Lewis. Karen is survived by her children Rick Anderson (Camille), Stacie Kern (Gary), Randy Anderson and step-son Kurt Sonderman (Channon). She is remembered by 7 treasured grandchildren Ryan, Sierra, Taylor, Dylan, Makenzie, Brandon, and Logan. She is leaving behind a large number of loving, caring friends and her two devoted yorkies, Willie and Amber. Karen enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, shopping and collecting new recipes to try. Karen loved traveling to new places with family and friends, and eating great food accompanied by great wine. A memorial service will be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home at 1401 South Union Street, Kennewick on Saturday, January 24th, 2:00 pm.
