Judy was born to Gordon and Anne Weller on January 23, 1940 in Portland, OR. She was the youngest of four children and spent most of her childhood in the Seattle and Everett areas. After graduating from Everett High School, she began working at Puget Sound Title Company in Seattle. It was there that she met her future husband, Jerry Ohail. Shortly after they were married in December 1960, Jerry was drafted. During his time in the Army from 1961-1963, Judy was able to accompany him to posts in Oklahoma and in Germany. After Jerry was discharged, the couple moved to Chehalis, WA for Jerry to resume his career in the title insurance business. It was there that their two sons were born; Tim in 1964 and Ted in 1965. After a short time in Seattle, Jerry's job took the family to Soap Lake, WA where the boys spent their younger years. They have fond memories of growing up on the golf course, playing golf, as well as good times swimming and camping with their parents. After seven years in Soap Lake, the family moved to Kennewick where Judy would spend the rest of her life. It was here that she began her long career at Penney's. With her love of people and eagerness to serve, she was a natural for the retail business. She quickly became a favorite of customers and co-workers alike. Among her fellow employees, she found supportive and life-long friends who became like family to Judy. Shortly after a serious car accident in 2001, Judy decided to retire and begin a different phase of her life. Judy was a life-long Catholic and now she had time to devote to her faith community at St. Joseph's. She began participating in prayer groups and Bible studies. She was involved in the Ministry to the Homebound, taking Communion to and becoming friends with those she visited. She was even able to make a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in 2006. Judy will be remembered as a loving and fun mother with a playful sense of humor. She was a friendly person, ready to begin conversation with any stranger, especially a child. Judy was always ready to pet a dog or cuddle a cat in her lap. She was a loyal friend. If Judy talked to you for any length of time, she would know your story and consider you a friend; and you could be assured you were on her prayer list. With her fun-loving spirit, Judy often ended a phone call with a hearty laugh. Most memorable, she was close to God and had a unique, quiet way of sharing her faith with others. Judy died peacefully on May 3, 2022 at Badger Mountain Adult Family Home of complications from Alzheimer's. Even in the final stages of her disease, she maintained her sweetness and her faith. The family wishes to thank Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice for their care of Judy these past two months. We are especially grateful to Osha Roberts and her staff at Badger Mountain for their loving care of Judy. They were truly family to her, and Judy was blessed to have spent her last year in the warmth of their home. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jack, and sisters, Joanne and Mary Lou. She is survived by her sons and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kennewick on May 26t h at 11:00 AM with inurnment in the church columbarium to follow. The Rosary will precede the Mass at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Judy's memory to St. Joseph's Catholic School.
