July 07th, 2016, Juan Zavaleta, Sr. passed on surrounded by his loving family. Born March 27th, 1952 in Toppenish, WA., "John" was the 4th of 14 children born to Manuel and Concepcion Zavaleta. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Christina Zavaleta, his children, Tammy (Cesar) Gutierrez and Juan "Franky" (Stacy) Zavaleta Jr., his grandchildren, Alexandra, Christian, Jaden, Noah, Bella, Diego, and Zane; his great-grandchildren Kaine and Keenan; his mother, Concepcion, and his siblings, Janie (Mague) Candanoza, Irma (Jesse) Trevino, Elva (Juan) Rojas, Molly (Juan) Leal, Arnold (Patricia) Zavaleta, Estella (Juan) Mendoza, Roland (Mary Lou) Zavaleta, Gloria, Rene, and Lisa Zavaleta. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Sr, and his siblings, Manuel Jr, Maria, and Mario Zavaleta. "My Love, Big John, Hoochie, and Fats", are just a couple of names he was lovingly referred to as. He loved the knick names and had one for just about every one of his loved ones. He was the king of his recliner and adored his family. He could be found on any given day watching movies with his great grandchildren and singing along to the songs just to make them happy. He was simple in that he never asked for much. He was happiest at home and could often be seen walking to the corner market to get his Bud Light and cigarettes. He had recently retired after 41 years in the Hanford area (20 with Hanford Patrol, and 21 at various Hanford sites). To say he will be greatly missed, doesn't adequately describe how we feel about our "Big J". The Zavaleta family would like to thank Trios ICU and The Chaplaincy for being so amazing during this difficult journey. "I like bananas, coconuts, and grapes, that's why they call me, Tarzan of the Apes"… The mass will be Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Patrick's in Pasco with burial to follow at City View Cemetery in Pasco.
