John Osman Ellison of Kennewick passed away peacefully on November 29, 2007 following a series of complications after a fall and a broken him in mid-November. He was 94 years old. John was born in Hyannis, Nebraska on May 18, 1913 to William and Elsie Boyce Ellison and grew up in the Sand Hills of Nebraska. He met Irene Christensen in Hyannis and they were married on Christmas Day in 1939. John and Irene spent the first few years of their marriage in Denver where he worked in construction. In 1944 John?s mother and Irene?s parents moved the Tri-City area to work at Hanford. John and Irene joined them shortly thereafter and eventually established their home in Kennewick. John worked as a mechanic at Hanford until his retirement in 1977. John and Irene enjoyed traveling in their camper. John enjoyed hunting and flying. He spent many hours helping friends and family with auto repairs and odd jobs. John was always interested and inquisitive about the workings of machinery and the latest improvements, a trait he kept to his last days. His family was very important to him and they always came first. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Irene; son Dennis Judy; daughter Jonita Tom George; grandchildren Dennis Ellison Jr., John Ellison Jr., David Ellison, Denise Ellison, Jennifer Dodd, Rob Dahlke, Larissa Chan and Andrew George; 12 great-grandchildren; and niece Sharon Wood. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Lois Smith; and brothers William and Orville. Viewing will be on Friday, December 7th, from 3pm-8pm, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 South Union Street in Kennewick. The family will be greeting friends from 4pm-6pm. Services will be Saturday, December 8th, 10:00am, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home.
