Obituary

John passed peacefully July 7 th , 2022. He was born March 12 th , 1935, to Francis (Frank) and Apolonia in Newtonville, Ontario, Canada. As a young child, John loved frolicking and being mischievous with his brothers (William and Stanley) on the family farm. He loved attending school and his favorite subjects were math and poetry. He graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit, Michigan, and he sailed on the Great Lakes for a while before joining the Army in June 1957. His basic training was in Fort Polk, Louisiana, and John was stationed in Korea, then at Fort Lewis, Tacoma. John and Elaine were married in 1960 in Warren, Michigan, and made their home in Seattle, WA, where John was employed with Boeing Co. He later received a three-year apprenticeship with The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) for an electrical career. He travelled to various parts of Washington for training. John also worked many years for the Corp of Engineers at Ice Harbor Dam as a power plant electrician and later transferred back to BPA. He retired from BPA in March 1990, worked numerous outages for Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS), and worked in Alaska for a private contractor.

He loved to scuba dive, restore old cars, manage properties, and drive his tractors. He was a member of IBEW 125 (Portland), VFW Post 12018 (West Richland), Ye Olde Car Club (Tri-Cities), and MENSA.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers (William, Stanley, Frankie), sisters (Mary, Sophie, Helen) and many great friends.  He is survived by his wife (Elaine), daughter (Jacqueline Winters), son (John), grandsons (Dayne Winters, Johnny, Jacob), great-grandsons (Andrew, Bodie Winters), and numerous nephews and nieces. He will be missed greatly!

We, the family of John, would like to thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving us your child as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He brought great laughter, strength, integrity, and love into our lives. We thank you, Jesus, for the comfort and peace you are bringing to us now and in the days to come. Through Jesus' name, we pray, amen.

We express a big "thank you" to the Kadlec medical staff.
