JoAnn Childers, age 60, went home to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, October 8, 2007 at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. She was born on October 13, 1946 to Allan and Erma Christianson in Los Angeles, CA. JoAnn married the love of her life, Bob Childers on July 6, 1966. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother. Her love for God and others was evident by the way she lived her life. She served as an activities director at Richland Life Care Center and Regency at the Park Walla Walla for more than 21 years. JoAnn loved her job and was devoted to the residents she served. She was a leader and a mentor to many in her field. JoAnn's greatest joy was her family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren who she told of their success at every opportunity. She was preceded in death by her father Allan William Christianson. JoAnn is survived by her mother, Erma Christianson; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Linda Christianson; husband, Bob Childers of Kennewick; five children, Jim and Tarisa Childers of Freeland, WA; Melinda and Peter Walenceus of Tacoma, WA; Andrea and Kendall Mann of Kennewick, WA; Rebecca and Josh Wood of Kennewick, WA; David Childers of Anchorage, AK; and 11 grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at Richland Church of Christ 933 Thayer Dr. Richland, WA at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007. There will be a viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. and a reception immediately following. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
