Jerry Lee Mason, 60, of Kennewick, passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 29, 2009. He was born to Illa Mae and Cecil Mason on November 18, 1948 in Havre, Montana. He was the youngest of eight children. Jerry attended school in Spokane, and it was in middle school where he met and later married Sharlyn McAdams, his first great love. During the first few years of their marriage they traveled across the country, living in Texas and Maryland, but ultimately they returned to Spokane to raise a family. In 1981 Jerry found work in the Tri-Cities, so the family moved to Kennewick. Time and life?s circumstances led to the end of Jerry?s 17-year marriage, but he and Sharlyn remained good friends throughout the remainder of his life. On August 26, 1984, Jerry married his soul mate, Wendy Scott. Married for 20 years, together they moved to Western Washington and enjoyed living in the country, spending time outdoors fishing and camping. In 2000, they made their lives together truly complete when they elatedly traveled to China to adopt their daughter LiXuMei. They had four perfect years raising LiXuMei together until, devastatingly, Wendy passed away from a brief illness in 2004. Jerry embraced being a single father and was utterly devoted to LiXuMei. No other child has ever been loved more. In early 2005, in order to be closer to his other kids, Jerry and LiXuMei moved to Kennewick. Although he was taken from us too soon, Jerry?s life was full of adventure. During his lifetime he served in the Army, with tours Vietnam and Korea; worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane and Vancouver; managed Spokane Culvert Company in Pasco; owned Jerry's Bath and Spa Supply Store in Cornelius, Oregon; and most recently worked as a truck driver until he retired in 2004. Jerry had many hobbies, including fishing, woodworking, and tinkering in his garage and in his newly-built shop. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy; his mother; his father; four sisters; and one brother. He is survived by his children Christine McNeill Jeff, Garrett Mason Tiffany, Aaron Mason, and LiXuMei Mason, all of Kennewick, WA; grandchildren Anthony, Andrew, Maddisen, and Desiree; sister Leona Ottria, Forest Grove, OR; and brother John Mason, Spokane, WA. The family will hold a celebration in honor of Jerry?s life on Saturday, August 1, at 2:00pm at his home.
