JANIS (SMITH) KLINGINSMITH Janis Klinginsmith was born on November 28, 1936, in Putnam County, Missouri, to Bernard and Velva (Crawford) Smith. She passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015. On May 25, 1958, she married Arthur H. Klinginsmith and lived in Lucerne, Missouri, before they moved to Seattle, Washington in 1959. Arddie (AJ) Klinginsmith was born in 1960. Later that year, the family moved to Kennewick where Mardy Klinginsmith was born in 1962. Jan reveled in her role as Grandma. She enjoyed having all of her grandchildren together, but also relished giving individual attention to each one of them. She loved making each one of them feel special and loved. Jan and Art retired in 1992. In 1994, they began volunteering with SOWERS (Servants on Wheels Ever Ready) Organization traveling and building churches. In 2000, they began a new adventure working with JAARS through Wycliffe Bible Translators. The South Hills Church building (then First Baptist Church) was a project they began helping with in 2004. In 2004, illness began taking Jan away from us a little bit at a time. During the many years until her death, Art was always there to comfort and care for her. His caring for her was a wonderful example to our family. Jan is survived by her husband, Arthur; sons Arddie (AJ) Klinginsmith, wife Lori; Mardy Klinginsmith, wife Julie; grandchildren: Jacob, wife Ruth; Adrien Lynae, Justin, wife Breann; Sean, fianc' Nadia; Skyler; step-grandchildren: Rachael, husband Kyle, and Samantha, husband Kenneth. Her great-grandchildren: Kiana, Hunter, Lincoln, Parks, Kenley and Kylee. Our family would like to thank all the family, friends, and neighbors who have taken time out of their schedules over the years to visit, comfort, call, and support Art and Jan. In addition, we'd like to thank the Hospice staff for the loving care they have provided to Jan to make her last few years as comfortable as possible. A celebration of life will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at South Hills Church, 3700 West 27th Ave., Kennewick, WA.
