James Joseph Flannery
December 27, 1927 - October 2, 2021
Born in Chicago to Patrick J and Loretta I Flannery. Jim graduated from De LaSalle High School in Chicago in 1946 and attended the University of Illinois. He joined the US Army in 1951 and served in the 83rd Field Artillery Division and was honorably discharged in March of 1953. After his discharge he moved to North Dakota where he began his career in heavy construction. His first job was working on the Garrison Dam. He also managed construction of Highways, Fossil and Nuclear Power Plants, Industrial Plants, and both Minuteman and Titan missile sites across the western US. He came to the Tri-Cities in 1977 with JA Jones, to work on WNP1. While working in North Dakota, he met Mary Ann Bohrer. They were married on November 25, 1953. Jim and Mary and their 6 children, and normally a dog, traveled around the country following his work, and lived in 18 states in the process. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mary and children: John Flannery (Stilwell, KS), Susan VanDoren and husband Phil (Pasco, WA), Michael Flannery and wife Lori (Kennewick, WA), Scott Flannery and wife Karin (Benton City, WA), Kati Flannery (Kennewick, WA), and daughter-in-law Lisa VanPelt (Pueblo, CO). Jim is preceded in death by his parents and sister, and son Kevin Flannery. Jim and Mary have 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He retired in 1991. He lived a long life. Loved and enjoyed his family, his work and dogs. He enjoyed hunting and golf and played many beautiful courses in their travels. Jim will be inurned in the Military area of Desert Lawn Memorial Park, in Kennewick, WA. The family invites you to sign the Guest Book at www.Muellersfuneralhomes.com.
