Born Nov. 19, 1942 Died Feb 15, 2020 James Harold Elliott aka Sunny, Sunny Jim, Jim, Pa Jim was born in Elk City, Oklahoma. His parents James Murphy Elliott aka "Tex", and Armada Lorene Dawkins Elliott and Jim lived in Oklahoma until he was 2 years old and then they relocated to The Dalles, Or. Jim spent his childhood in The Dalles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many cousins. Jim attended The Dalles high school. He worked as an orderly for The Dalles mental hospital and then worked for the city of The Dalles. He married Judy Betty and they had 2 children Shannon and Travis. He began a career as an electrician in Vancouver, WA. He divorced and then relocated to Kennewick Wa where he met the love of his life Carol Jean "CJ" Lauridsen in 1975. They were married in August 1976 in Pasco where they started their lives together. Carol had 2 children from a previous marriage Pamela and Garold. They created a beautiful blended family together. After retirement, he and Carol purchased an RV and hit the road. They travelled with Carols sisters and brothers in law for about 9 years. They travelled the US and visited all of the lower 48 states. Jim was known for his practical jokes and storytelling skills. He could spin a tale that you would hang on to with every word trying to figure out if it was truth or fiction as those lines were blurred. He loved getting together with family and telling stories of his past adventures. He loved to embellish and never told the same version of the story twice. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved to pull a good prank or give you a good scare. He loved biscuits and gravy, but he was a stickler that they came out evenly matched! Carol is an incredible cook and he loved every meal she prepared for him. Jim loved sports including the Seahawks, Mariners and Tri City Americans. Jim and Carol were season ticket holders for the Tri City Americans for 25 years and hardly missed a game. In the past few years Jim had suffered some serious health issues. But he continued to fight thru them, and strive to get healthy again. He always kept a positive attitude and never lost his sense of humor. Jim is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Shannon Elliott Ronbeck (Kim) and Pamela Golden (Charles), sons James Travis Elliott (Lisa), Garold Schill (Kellie), 10 beautiful grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Jim was the best son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and "brother from another mother". He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Spring was Jim's favorite season and there will be a celebration of life for Jim in the near future. Tenative date June 13, location TBD. Details will be made available as plans are made.
