Jack Eickmeyer died peacefully at his home in Pasco on September 8, 2007. He was born to Ezra and Helen Eickmeyer in Spokane, WA on October 4, 1927. He grew up on the family farm in Deer Park until enlisting in the Navy at 17. In 1949, at the age of 22, he moved to Pasco when his dad purchased their farm in Block 1. On November 26, 1953, Jack married Faye Louise Rose. He farmed until 1980 when he retired to take up gold mining. All of his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman, having only missed one elk season in 58 years. He especially enjoyed packing his mules into the Blue Mountains where he would spend weeks upon weeks hunting and fishing. Often it was said he was born a hundred years too late. Once he discovered the frontier of Alaska there was no holding him in Pasco during the summer months. His last project before his passing was a gold dredge that would walk along the bottom of the ocean in Nome, Alaska, sucking up gold that lay on the ocean floor. Recently this was filmed by the History Channel. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Ezra and Helen Eickmeyer; wife Faye; daughter Lynne Kettering and her son Rob; and sister Virginia Griffin. He is survived by his daughter Lori and son-in-law Dale Simpson and their children Bryan, Brad and Katie; son Lee and daughter-in-law Lynne and their children Erin, Shea and Kasey; son-in-law Kent Kettering and his daughter Kari; sisters Carol Gossen, Fran VanRoekel; brother Bill Eickmeyer, great granddaughters Sidney and Aroura. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him well. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 13th, 2007, 11:00am, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick with Interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Please join the family for a Celebration of Jack?s life at Lee?s house following the services.
