Iona "Beth" Huff, of Kennewick, Washington, died November 26, 2009 at Legacy Cottage in Kennewick, Washington. She was 81. She was born January 28, 1928 in Sharon Springs, Kansas to Earl and Eva Gergen, 6th of 8 children. When Beth was 9, the family moved to Boring, Oregon. She graduated from Gresham High School. On September 22, 1946 she married Eugene Edward Christensen in Gresham, Oregon. Soon after they moved to Corvallis, Oregon where their two daughters, Jaquetta Jackie and Linda, were born. In 1950 the family relocated to Beaverton, Oregon. In 1976, after granddaughter Amy DesChane was born in Pasco, Washington, they relocated to Kennewick. During the years Beth worked as a book keeper for various companies in the Portland area and most recently as a cafeteria helper for the Kennewick School District. On November 2, 2000, Gene died suddenly. On August 18, 2001, Beth married Omer Huff, a neighbor of over 20 years who had recently lost his wife. She was a member of South Hills Church. Beth is survived by her husband, Omer Huff of Kennewick, WA; daughters Jackie DesChane of Pasco, WA and Linda Christensen of Portland, OR; granddaughter Amy DesChane of Las Vegas, NV; sisters Leah Robinett of Hollister, CA and Alice McDonald of Gresham, OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Eula Major of Roseburg, OR and Alta Fuller of Boring, OR, brothers Frank Gergen and Glyne Gergen of Portland, OR and Lloyd Gergen of Iron Mountain, WY. Funeral services will be Friday, December 11th, 2009, 10:00am, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Please no flowers.
