Imogene 'Myke' Rose Gingrich Paysse Lohse Imogene 'Myke' Lohse passed away on November 9, 2015, at home in W. Pasco, 3 weeks before her 90th birthday. She was born on December 6, 1925, in Colfax, Washington, to Alma and Andrew Gingrich, and grew up on the family wheat farm in Whitman County. After graduating high school, she moved to Spokane for two years, where she worked as a housekeeper for room and board, and took a course in bookkeeping. She returned to Colfax to become bookkeeper for the Ford Garage. It was there that she nearly walked into the showroom window after spotting a handsome Marine walking in downtown Colfax with his father. This was George Paysse, whom she married the following spring. Because she didn't care for her first name, George nicknamed her Mike. She changed the spelling when their son Michael James was born the following year. Their daughter Susan was born eight years later. The family moved several times for George's career, eventually settling in Pasco, Washington, in 1965. They were married for 32 years, until his death in 1977. In 1979, Myke married William Lohse, and spent what may have been the happiest time of her life, traveling, spending time with her family, Bill's extended family, and enjoying all of their grandkids. Summer weekends were filled with barbecues, swimming, kids and grandkids running through the house, dripping water from the pool. They were active members of the Lutheran Church in Pasco, and eventually joined the Lutheran Church on Yelm, in Kennewick. Bill passed away in 1996. Myke worked in the Auditor's Office of the Whitman County Courthouse and the Franklin County Courthouse. She was a lifelong Democrat, and active in the party for many years. She volunteered with the Shrine and chaperoned many children to and from the Shrine Hospital in Spokane. She was stubbornly independent, and took care of the family home and its acreage for several years after Bill's death. When it became too much, she moved to a smaller house in Pasco, but returned to 'the ranch' in her last years, where she lived with her granddaughter Tiffany and family, who lovingly cared for her the rest of her life. Myke is survived by her daughter Susan Paysse (Tony McKarns) of Pasco, brother Bob Gingrich (Betty), Rosalia, nephew Terry Gingrich, Cheney, grandchildren Tiffany Burke (Will), and Alexandria Paysse, Jennifer Hayes (Sean), and Eric Bruton, great grandchildren Victoria and Valerie Nunez, Jack Michael Burke, Jaiden Paysse, and Daniel Vargas. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Paysse, in 1987, brother Archie Gingrich, and her parents. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 2pm, at City View Cemetery in Pasco. An open house for her friends and family will be held at her daughter's home, after her services.
