Ruth Iverson December 14,1928 - January 31, 2023

Ruth Iverson of Hover, Washington passed away in Hospice at Life Care Center of Richland on January31, 2023, after a short illness. She was94.

Helen 'Ruth' Kirbs was born on December 14, 1928, in Bend, Oregon to Henry and Clara (Birkholz) Kirbs.

She attended Northwestern Business College in Portland, Oregon and, afterward, was a telephone operator for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph offices in Bend, Oregon.

She married Elmer Iverson on June 6, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bend, Oregon. They had three children. In 1961 they homesteaded in the Burbank area of Walla Walla County, Washington. Ruth was a farm wife and kept the farm books, but she also worked at times in the Burbank Schools and for Pischel's Yearbooks. In 1976 Elmer and Ruth opened the Bresler's Ice Cream Store in Pasco and later managed lodging for railroad crews in Pasco. They moved to Goldendale in 1980, farming there for several years before moving to Kennewick in 1995.

Ruth enjoyed sewing and ceramics. In retirement, Elmer made folk art sculptures, and Ruth did the painting and flower arrangements for them.

Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kennewick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Ed and Walter.

She is survived by her children, daughter Kori Pollington, daughter Lori and husband Ernest Brown, son Gary and wife Erica; and grandchildren Kyle Pollington, Geoff Majetich and wife Amanda, Karly Timmons, Megan Brown, Sarah, Matthew, and Beryl Iverson.
