Helen Mary Hubbell of Kennewick, Washington went to be with Jesus on March 15, 2015. She was 91. Helen Mary Bolster was born in Olympia, Washington on May 10, 1923, to John and Jessie Bolster. She moved to Alberta, Canada in 1929, where she lived with her mother and grandparents until she was thirteen, when she moved to Tacoma, Washington. Helen graduated from Stadium High School in 1940, when she was seventeen. Helen married Lyle Raymond Hubbell after graduation. Lyle Hubbell served in the army during World War II and was stationed in France and Africa over the course of his military career. He and Helen were the proud parents of seven children, and Helen delighted in her role as homemaker. Her family came first, and she spent her life caring for those she loved. In addition to serving in the PTA and supporting her children in their school activities, Helen was a mother to many—she welcomed the chance to help other family members, friends, strangers, and stray pets, and was a great caregiver. When she wasn't caring for her family, she enjoyed working in her garden, bowling, and traveling. Her family remained her greatest priority. She did not want them to hurt, and carried this poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye in her purse: Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. She will be remembered for her love of her family and her smile. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John Bolster and Jessie McDonald, and her husband Lyle, who died in 1984. She is survived by her children, Shirley McKee of Tacoma, WA; Coralee and Marty Ferrians of Pasco, WA; Diane and Richard Lerner of Kennewick, WA; Charles and Dottie Hubbell of Kingston, WA; Roger and Shawn Hubbell of Kennewick, WA; Jay and Linda Hubbell of Brownsville, TX; and A. Glenn and Karen Hubbell of West Richland, WA; numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren; and family and friends who loved her very much. A memorial service will be held for Helen Mary Hubbell at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Westside Church of Christ, 7900 W. Court St., in Pasco. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the March of Dimes.
