Helen Fluharty, 96 years of age, passed away peacefully, March 2, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Helen entered this world February 15, 1921, first child of Henry Lars Erickson and Anne Elison Erickson. Helen was born and raised in Idaho. In October, 1940, Helen married Howard Marvin Fluharty, who passed away almost 40 years ago. In 1943, the family of three moved to Richland, WA, where Howard started work in the Hanford area. They moved from Richland to Kennewick during the flood of 1948. Howard built a one car cinder block garage in East Kennewick and the family of six lived there until Howard built a larger home. Helen served in many capacities in the community and church, as well as raising five children, extended family members, and many foster children. Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Helen especially enjoyed the last two years of her Sunday School class at Park View Estates. She loved the new friends at Park View. Helen is survived by five children, a large posterity and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Hansen Park LDS building (8120 W. 4th, Kennewick). Viewing will start at 9 am, funeral at 10 AM, followed by graveside services. We would like to invite the family to the luncheon after the graveside services.
