March 26, 1931 - July 22, 2021
On July 22nd, Gwen Howell, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and Nana, passed away at age 90. Gwen was born in Canada and raised in Finley, Washington by her loving adoptive parents Sarah Jane and Harvey Davis. After attending Riverview High School, she married Tollie Atterberry and raised 3 children in Pasco. In 1973 she moved to North Carolina where she married Osborne King ("OK") Howell, the love of her life. They spent 32 precious years together enjoying time with family and friends, traveling, and retirement. Gwen moved back to Washington after the death of OK, and spent the remainder of her years with family, hosting out of town guests, attending her neighborhood church, and playing cards and bingo several times a week. She was known for her country cooking, 12 inch high meringue pies, bright red lipstick, beautiful head of hair, lovely blouses and her vast collection of big clip-on earrings. At the age of 79 Gwen was reunited with her birth family from Canada and was overjoyed to find out that she had 7 living siblings; the brothers and sisters she had always longed for! Gwen was preceded in death by her husband OK Howell, sister Lois Bourgonje, brother Glen Cragg, best friend and sister-in-law Eva Barrickman, husband Robert Daugherty, and granddaughter Tracy Johnson.
