Obituary

Geraldine Elizabeth McLerran passed away on October 24, 2019 after a long illness at the age of 94. Gerry was born on April 27, 1925 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Descended from those who originally settled the area in the 1600s, she grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. After completion of her schooling Gerry went to work at the Hamilton Watch factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, joining other women who entered the labor force to support American efforts in World War II. In 1944 Gerry met Stanford John McLerran of Selah, Washington, who was on leave from the Navy. The two were soon married and Gerry moved to eastern Washington to live with Stan's mother, Jennie McLerran, while he completed his military service. Stan and Gerry lived in Selah until 1966 and thereafter in Richland, Washington, raising four children. Their first child, Stanford, Jr., died in a tragic accident at the age of three. Gerry was a devoted wife and mother. She was also an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors. During their later years, Stan and Gerry traveled the world, fulfilling their life-long dreams. Stan passed away in 2017. For the past 15 years Gerry resided at Prestige Assisted Living, where she enjoyed the care and companionship of the facility's devoted staff. Gerry is survived by three children, Larry Dean McLerran (Seattle; married to Alice McLerran, recently deceased), Dennis James McLerran (Seattle, married to Karin Nyrop), and Jennifer Ann McLerran (Flagstaff, Arizona, married to Tom Patin); and one granddaughter, Kristin Lisa McLerran (Seattle). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Kennewick.
