Gerald P Sovereign age 82 years young of Kennewick, Washington passed away on Sunday September 30th in Kennewick with his family by his side. Jerry was born in Kalispell, MT on November 8, 1935 to Percy and Laura McCafferty Sovereign. As a young child he grew up in Anaconda MT, moved to Sunnyside, Washington where he met the love of his life Elaine Blaak in 1953. Jerry and Elaine married in June of 1958. He graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business. Jerry worked as a salesperson for several companies before purchasing Kelley's of Pasco in 1968. Jerry was an entrepreneur at heart. He built the company from one location to up to 7 regional locations specializing in Answering Service, Paging, and Cellular Services. He was a pioneer introducing mobile telephone service to the Columbia Basin. It is an amazing accomplishment to have a successful business for 50 years. Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years Elaine Blaak Sovereign, and three daughters. Sandra L. (Pete) Buck and their children Benjamin M (Amber) Buck, and Kyle G Buck. Linda J. (David) Ivey and their children Katrina M (Joshua) LaJiness, and Trevor A. Ivey. Granddaughter Annabelle Ivey Julie A. Sovereign and her children Dylan C. Hereford and Andruw V. Hereford. Preceded in death by his parents Percy and Laura Sovereign, and his sister Audrey Hungate. Jerry loved his family, immediate and extended, including them all in his favorite hobbies. He planned many weekends on the river, teaching anyone who showed up how to ski with patience and humor. He gave his grandchildren the love of water sports, winter sports, vacations, and how to live a full life. He was often seen supporting his children and grandchildren's events. Jerry was involved in several service organizations both business related and for the local school organizations.
