Evelyn Doris Hendee "Evie" age 93, went to be with the Lord at the home of her granddaughter, Elizabeth, on August 10th, 2008. Evelyn was born on April 20th, 1915 in Powers Lake, North Dakota. Evelyn's parents, Anne Oksness Enget and Ole Enget were Norwegian immigrants making their home in Powers Lake. Evelyn grew up on her parents' farm with her 8 siblings. Brothers: Omar and Art; Sisters: Dagmar, Harriet, Martha, Sylvia, Grace and Eileen. Upon graduating from high school Evelyn moved to Kalispell, MT to live with her sister Grace. It was in Kalispell that Evelyn met and married Kenneth J. Clegg. Together they had two children, Kenneth Munro and Leland George. Tragically Leland preceded Evelyn in death at age nine months. On January 9th of 1953 Evelyn married Donald Hendee. They moved from Kalispell to Seattle, WA and on to West Richland, WA in the same year. Evelyn worked as the manager of the Pasco Sears before moving to Finley, WA where she worked at Riverview High School as the secretary for many years until her retirement. She was very well liked by the students and touched many lives. Don and Evelyn enjoyed traveling together upon their retirement. Evelyn was devoted to her family. She was a very loving and supportive mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love was unconditional and she put the needs of her family above her own. She always had a kind smile and food to offer those who were hungry and those who were not! One of the greatest highlights of her life was tending to her grandchildren during overnight weekend visits and every summer vacation throughout their lives. There was always a pony to saddle, hard ice cream to stir soft and pancakes to cook according to each child's likeness. She spent her life serving others. After Don past away Evelyn continued to live by herself until August of 2004 when she went to live with her granddaughter Liz. Liz cared for Evelyn up until her death. Evelyn is survived by her son Ken, grandchildren, Ken Bud, Brand, Bruce, Darcy Jerry Markee, Liz, Corby and Aaron; great- grand children, Josh, Gabrielle, Rachelle, Dex, Mason, Carter, Jeromy, Jessica, Kayla, Danielle and Zachery; great-great-grand children, Noah, Hailey and Karis, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
