Evelyn Mae Alford Evelyn Alford, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, in Pasco, WA, of natural causes. Evelyn Mae Owens was born to Richard G. Owens and Elizabeth Jane (Tracy) Owens in Renton, WA on February 21, 1929. Evelyn grew up on Mercer Island, Washington. She attended Holy Names Academy Junior Boarding School in Seattle during her elementary school years. She graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle and received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Central Washington College of Education, now Central Washington University, in 1951. Evelyn continued in the Art field at the Hanford Site working as a "Forms Designer" in the "Procedures Analysis Department" for the General Electric Company in Richland, WA. She married Navy Lieutenant Clayton K. Alford in 1953 and they lived on Whidbey Island, WA where Clayton was stationed as a Navy pilot. Their first child was born on the base. Evelyn returned to the Tri-Cities with her husband and young son in 1954, where their other 3 children were born. Evelyn raised her family on a Columbia Basin farm north of Pasco, where she and her husband were some of the first modern-day pioneers. Evelyn is survived by her son, Bryan (Brenda) (Pasco, WA) and daughters Denise Alford (Pasco, WA), Candis Alford (Kirkland, WA) and Marti Alford (Cathedral City, CA), 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, in 2000 and by her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Owens and her one sibling, brother Richard Owens. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband and flying to many places in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. She enjoyed vacations in Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. Her hobbies were arts and crafts, scrap booking, correspondence and keeping photo albums. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Per Evelyn's wishes, a private family Mass and interment was held.
