Etha Ione McClelland passed away peacefully on March 16, 2013 at From the Heart group home in Pasco. She was born in Nateby, Alberta Canada on November 29, 1917 to Clifford and Verna Ankney. The family returned to Idaho in 1927 and Etha graduated from Lapwai High School in 1936. Etha married Russell Palmer in Reno, Nevada on June 29, 1940. They had one daughter, Robin. During World War II, Russell was killed in action in France in November, 1944. She married James R. McClelland in May of 1946 and they had one daughter, Karen. James passed away in 1988. The family moved to Kennewick from Lewiston, Idaho in 1952 and they lived there throughout their lives. Etha worked for Welch's Grape Company for 21 years retiring in 1975. She was a member of Tri-City Christian Center for many years and then became a member of Open Heavens Christian Center. She was a servant at the church running a food bank, cooking for events, and was very active in prayer group and bible studies. Etha loved gardening and spent many hours working to produce a feast of color for the eyes. She is survived by her daughters Robin Hendrickson of Kennewick, Karen Markel of Loon Lake; her sisters Zelma Gorrell of Spokane, Lyla Simmons and brothers Elton and Lloyd Ankney of Lewiston, Idaho; 5 grandaughters, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick with viewing beginning at 11 a.m.
