Ernst Hanfbauer Jr. was born October 7, 1924 at the Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to Laura and Ernst V. Hanfbauer Sr. He was a loving brother of Zita Louis Oakley and beloved husband of Adeline May Petersen Hanfbauer who preceded him in death on July 8, 2008. He served as an aviation metal smith during World War II in the U.S. Navy from December 1, 1941 to December 10, 1945 in the Pacific Theater. Ernst married Adeline on October 17, 1945 in Kennewick, Washington. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980. He is survived by his daughters Vicki Brian Mannix and Cindy Curtis Benward; grandchildren Shannon Mannix, Megan Mannix Haugen and Cara Benward Day; great-grandchildren Jackson Haugen, Madison Haugen, Brooke Day and Jacob Day; and sister Zita Don Oakley.
