Emma Anderson died in her sleep on Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2009, at the Royal Columbian. She was cared for toward her death by Hospice in her final weeks. Emma was born Emma Alette Letnes on October 4, 1911, near Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Jens and Elise. She was one of nine children. In 1941, she married Wayne Anderson and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together before he died in 1997. Emma is survived by her two younger sisters, Marie and Evie, as well as her five sons, Mike, Joel, Paul, Tom and Dave, and their families, including 10 grandchildren. Emma was a diehard Norwegian Lutheran and was often disappointed that her children did not learn to speak her native Norwegian. She was an amazing cook and made a mean apple pie crust and THE best lefse. There will be a private internment at Mueller's. The family requests that memorials be given to either Kennewick First Lutheran Church or Hospice.
