At the age of 92, Elmer "Bob" Keplinger passed away early Sunday morning, January 3, 2021. Born on November 8, 1928 in Richmond, VA to Elmer Robert Keplinger and his wife, Annie Bert Keplinger (nee Harper). The family headed west through many moves until they settled in Richland, WA in 1944. Bob attended Richland High School where he played football as a Richland Bomber. After high school he proudly joined the Marines and served during the Korean War. Bob was a Deputy Sheriff in Spokane, and after relocating to Los Angeles, he worked Security at Desilu Studios and ultimately rose to Chief of Security at Paramount Studios in the 1970's. He retired from Paramount after 30 years. Bob married Charlotte Blatchford and they had two children, Robert and Dawn. He and Charlotte divorced in 1970 and he never remarried. After his retirement, Bob ultimately returned to his favorite part of the country and settled in Kennewick, WA. He is survived by his sister, Clara Lackey of Kennewick, his children, Robert (Desiree) Keplinger of Portland, and Dawn (Rick) Carter of Las Vegas, three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jacob) Adams, Thomas and Genevieve, all of Portland, and his nieces and nephews in Kennewick/Richland. Due to Covid there will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life is (hopefully) planned for late spring/early summer 2021.
