Ellamae Clark Wheeler, age 89, of Kennewick, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Ellamae was born in Yakima on April 3, 1917. She was the daughter of Arthur & Melissa Stearns Clark. She met her future husband, Glynn, in English class their senior year at Yakima High School. They walked down the aisle together at graduation in 1935. Four years later on April 27, 1939 they walked down the aisle together again at their wedding. Ellamae was a very active member of Kennewick First Christian Church for 49 years. Serving as both vice president & president of Christian Women?s Fellowship, Deaconess, Elder, & chairman of many committees. She loved being the church wedding coordinator & helping couples plan & have wonderful weddings. Before she was married she taught Sunday School at Yakima First Christian Church where seven of her students went on to be ministers. She was the first volunteer bookkeeper of the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy. Ellamae was an Army Officer?s Wife of many years. While her family was stationed in Esslingen, Germany, she was very active working with the local children?s orphanage. Ellamae enjoyed reading, knitting & cooking, but most of all spending time with her sweetheart of 72 years, her family, her church family, many, many dear friends, especially her Bible Study sisters, Marie, Elizabeth, Freda, Martha & Hazel. She will be greatly missed by everyone. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Glynn E. Wheeler, son, Michael G. Wheeler, Sr. of Pasco & daughter Judy L, Wheeler of Kennewick; Grandchildren, Jacqueline Reid of Encinitas, CA., Kenneth Wheeler of Las Vegas, NV, Lora Rief of Pasco, Michael G. Wheeler, Jr. Melanie of Richland, 12 great-grandchildren; a half sister, Carol Barossa & half brother Rodney Clark, both of CA; Many nieces, nephews & cousins. Her adoptive sister & best friend Gwen Hodkinson of Union Gap, WA and adoptive daughter, Judy K. Graff of Kennewick. She is preceded in death by her mother & step-father, Melissa & Jack Wagner; father, Arthur Clark; brother, Clifford Clark; daughter-in-law, Mary Wheeler, and two grandsons, John E. Wheeler & James G. Wheeler. A memorial service and celebration of Ellamae?s life will be held at Kennewick First Christian church, 19th Ave & Olympia St., on Saturday, October 21st at 3pm. Memorials may be made in honor of Ellamae, to the Christian Women?s Fellowship at Kennewick First Christian Church.
