Our Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma, Eileen F. Bond, is dancing with Jesus now. She departed for Heaven on February 24, 2009. She was born in Crofton, Nebraska on February 6, 1929 to Chris and Hettie Sina Smith Eggers. She was the baby of her very large family. Mom was raised in Custer and Buffalo Gap, South Dakota, and moved with her Mom and Dad to Hood River, Oregon when she was 13 years old. She had to quit school in the 9th grade to work in her Father's restaurant to help the family survive. She met Kenneth Bond, in Hood River and they married on March 14, 1945 in Stevenson, Washington. They moved from place to place following work, and finally settled in Pasco, Washington in 1952 to raise their two children. She worked for Pasco School District for many years, first as a dishwasher, and later was promoted to head cook until her retirement. Determined to be a high school graduate, she earned her diploma October 1986 after studying for only one week from Columbia Basin College. She leaves behind her children, Gail Bond Cannon and husband John Cannon, Steve Bond and his wife Susan Lisk Bond; and four beautiful grandchildren, Leslie Cannon Wolff and her husband John, Crista Cannon Williams and husband Jason, Shannon Bond Powers and husband Ed, and Scott Bond and wife Darcy. She also was a Great Grandmother to 11 great grandchildren and she adored each one of them. She is also survived by her brother Merle Eggers, Chico, CA, and so many nieces and nephews there are too many to mention. She has reunited with her father Chris C. Eggers and mother Hettie, and beloved sister Belva Clapper, sisters Hazel Merchant, Pearl Sherman, Lucille Haag and Lou Vogt. Her passion was family. She was a woman of amazing strength and always spoke her mind, a trait we all found endearing. If she was mad at you, she told you. Likewise she also professed her unyielding love for each of us; and did so often. She was not ordinary in any sense of the word, although she would never have agreed with that. She was filled with humbleness, joy, laughter and always stood for truth, regardless of what it cost. Most importantly she lived her life loving her family, and she loved us well. She leaves her legacy with her family of immeasurable proportions as she loved with the kind of love we believe Jesus desires. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the Wild Horse Casino with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a gambling machine and she by her own words "Gambled Hard". These trips with her were priceless, and filled with belly aching laughter and great fun. She also enjoyed passing on another passion, cooking, to her son. They spent great moments together as she taught him how she made 'his favorites'. With the beauty of a movie star, this amazing woman chose to be a Mom and did so with delight and joy. She raised two beautiful children and taught them both life lessons that are being carried out through 2 generations. She served as a compass for many of us and was truly the backbone of our family. We are left with so many memories that continue to flood into our hearts as a comfort. Knowing that she is with Jesus and we will someday be reunited eases the pain of today and brings a smile through our tears. The legacy she leaves behind to each of us was the manner in which she lived her life; truly the Fruits of the Spirit. Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness, and Self-Control. While we were gifted with her physical presence, she was our angel. And for now, until she welcomes us into her new home, we will be filled with her spirit while carrying and passing on her legacy.
