Obituary

Edward Arthur Winnestorfer, 76, left this earth on August 30, 2017 after battling terminal cancer. He was born Edward Augustine Scheurer on March 28, 1941 in Beardsley, Minnesota. In the 1950s, Ed was adopted by Arthur and Frances Winnestorfer of Otis Orchards, Washington where he grew up. He was active in 4-H and sports during his school years. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961 and served in Viet Nam. Ed married Sally Allen in 1962 and they had two children: Cynthia Lynn and Edward Arthur, Jr. In 1970, Ed married Kathy Witters and from this union four children were born: Sandra Lee, Paul Edward, Sherrie Kay, and Katheryn Sue. On April 19, 2003, Ed married Carolyn Svatonsky and we grew old together as best friends. Ed was a truck driver for over 40 years; working for various companies, including Elma Grimm, Transport Services, JJ Williams, and Transtate Asphalt, to name a few. In those years, Ed traveled throughout the 48 states carrying a multitude of products from produce to livestock to chemicals to hot asphalt. When he wasn't driving truck and as often as he could, you would find him on the river bank fishing for sturgeon, catfish, or steelhead. He taught all his children to fish and it was their special time with their father. All of our children have many fond memories of their fishing escapades. Ed loved roses and spent many hours fussing over "his" rose garden. He was also very handy at "honey-dos" and worked hard remodeling and keeping our house and yard nice. I was truly blessed that Ed was so talented and never afraid to take on a new challenge. He loved staying busy, whether around the house and yard or fishing. He drove our neighbors crazy when he started up the smoker full of sturgeon or catfish. Ed and Carolyn were the owners of Sky Winn Custom Mowing and Sky Winn Trucking LLC. In 2017, they finally called it quits and retired for good. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Frances; his older sister, Mable Ewing and his oldest daughter, Cyndi, our butterfly. He is survived by his younger sister, Mary Beach (Donavon) of Greenacres, Washington; his wife, Carolyn, of Kennewick, Washington; his sons: Ed Cleaver (Cami) of Kennewick, Washington and Paul Winnestorfer (Kari) of Scappoose, Oregon; his step-daughter, Raechal Frey (Keith) of Moses Lake, Washington; and his daughters: Sandra Winnestorfer, Sherrie Barton (Kelly) and Katheryn Chambers (Chukkar), all of Kennewick, Washington. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ariel Teeters (James) of West Richland, Washington; James and Samantha Frey of Moses Lake, Washington; Tony and Marcus Cleaver of Kennewick, Washington; Chase and Gavin Winnestorfer of Scappoose, Oregon; and Olivia and Weston Chambers, also of Kennewick, Washington.
