With his wife and family by his side, Dwight 's journey with us ended and he is now enjoying swapping stories and jokes with his parents and son who proceeded him in death. He had an unbelievable will to live and fought his toughest battle with determination, dignity and definitely on his own terms for 4 years. Dwight was born in Phoenix, Arizona Friday, October 13, 1944 to Dwight and Eileen Thompson and was the oldest of 4 children. After graduation from high school, he joined the Army and served as a Red Beret - Airborne Division during the 1960's. After his military commitment was finished; he married and had two sons, Wayne and Greg Thompson. Wayne and Greg were his pride and joy and he loved to tell stories of their accomplishments and exploits. When his first marriage ended, he spread his wings and really enjoyed the single life, his BMW motorcycle and Mazda sportscar. It was during this time he met and married his wife Paula. They combined their families and loved all four sons equally and spent many happy years traveling and moving to different locations for his job. Dwight began his career with the Caterpillar Corporation as a shop mechanic in Phoenix and worked his way up to management as Warranty Specialist, which provided him the opportunity to work with numerous Caterpillar franchises in Arizona, Indiana, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii and Nevada. After he retired, he turned to his favorite hobby - Photography. Nothing made him happier than taking photos of nature and his grandchildren. Dwight is survived by his wife Paula, son Greg Thompson, Jacksonville, Fl., Brian and Jason Cady of the Tri-Cities, 6 grandchildren, Angelique, Amanda, Margo, Calvin, Brianna and Anna Jane and 1 great grandson Sean. Unfortunately, he will not get to see the second great grandchild due in 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the Spring of 2019. His family and friends will always remember his strength, kindness, sense of humor, stubbornness, and his always knowing when you needed a hug.
