Obituary

DOROTHY SCHIMELFENING Photo March 7, 1921 - February 21, 2010 Dorothy Schimelfening of Kennewick, Washington, passed away on February 21, 2010. Dorothy was born in Detroit, Michigan, and married her lifelong husband, Tony, in Detroit in 1948. They met at a party for the G.I.'s just returning from WWII. They had an amazing marriage of 62 years. Dorothy and Tony moved to Washington in 1986 to be closer to their three daughters. During the course of Dorothy's wonderful long life, she worked as a secretary, taught catechism, helped disabled children learn among numerous other volunteer activities; all to help spread love to everyone she met. She loved being surrounded by family and friends sharing a good laugh. Dorothy is survived by her husband Tony; her daughter, Susan Phillips of Kennewick; her daughter, Sandra Schimelfening of Renton; her daughter, son-in-law and grandson Donna, Neal and A.J. Prater age 11 from Quilcene, Washington; and last but not least, her beloved dog 'Gigi,' a constant companion on her lap. If we only had a dollar for every time someone petted Gigi and Dorothy said 'Isn't she adorable?'... Dorothy too was adorable, inside and out, andwill be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27th, at 3:00 p.m., at the Parish of the Holy Spirit in Kennewick. A celebration of Dorothy's life will follow at the house. In lieu of flowers, if you choose, please send Tony something you know he would enjoy.
