Doris Luella Koehler, 88, passed away peacefully at Tri-Cities Retirement Inn in Pasco, on October 12, 2018; under the guidance of Chaplaincy Hospice Care. She was a resident of the Tri-Cities for 49 years. She was born March 22, 1930, at home in Echo, OR, to Ellen and Howard Pearson. She was the fifth of seven children. She is preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Jack; her brothers Dewey, Claude, and George; sisters Juanita and Sharon; and grandson James. Doris graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1948. In 1949, she married Jack Koehler. They lived in Pasco for a few years and then bought a house in Kennewick. She was a homemaker until his death in 1967. Then, she went to school to learn how to be a bookkeeper. She was a bookkeeper at Grigg's in Pasco for several years. She later became the admitting clerk in the emergency room at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Pasco for the next ten years. In 1994, she moved to Umatilla, OR. She was a Foster Grandmother at McNary Heights Elementary School until 2014, at the age of 83, when she began to have health issues. She moved into assisted living at Tri-Cities Retirement Inn in Pasco. Doris is survived by her sister, Kay Fogle; two daughters, Kathy Hayes and Jackie Koehler; four grandchildren, Rusty Bachman (Miranda), Toni Varner (Tom), Jeff Gibson (Misty), and Jason Hayes; and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick on October 19, 2018, at 1pm. Disposition was by cremation. Mueller's of Kennewick is in charge of arrangements.
