Donald William Shannon, aged 84, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2017. He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on January 22, 1933. He spent most of his youth in Texas, where he attended Rice University and the University of Texas, receiving a Master's Degree in Chemistry. He was employed at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation from 1956 to 1986, eventually becoming a top level Senior Scientist. He married Ruth Arlene Shannon on August 2, 1958, who preceded him in death on April 8, 2016. They were married 57 years. He enjoyed many hobbies and became an accomplished photographer, astronomer, and archeologist. He is survived by his sister Patsy, three daughters Shari, Kelli, and Erin, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A private service was held Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Riverview Heights Cemetery in Kennewick.
