Donald Flagg was born in Watervliet, Michigan on September 24, 1942 to Dortha and Vivian Flagg. He graduated from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Donald went on to finish his Master's degree at the University of Las Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Las Vegas, he taught physical education at various elementary schools. His greatest talent was coaching basketball. In Las Vegas he was the head coach for the boy's varsity team at Vocational Technical High School. He was very proud to turn the basketball program into a winning program against tremendous odds. After moving to Saint Joseph, Michigan, he was the head coach for the boys basketball team in Eau Claire, Michigan. His greatest joy came from teaching not only basketball but team unity, and perseverance to overcome adversity. Living in South Bend, Indiana he worked with the rehabilitation of high risk teens. He understood and could touch the lives of even the most hardened juvenile delinquents, helping them to turn their lives around and be contributing members of society. After moving to the Tri-Cities, he continued his coaching and teaching career. He was an English teacher and basketball coach at Kennewick High School. He coached many teams at Kennewick High school, including the varsity boy's team, assisting the girls varsity team, girls junior varsity team and the junior high boys team. He encouraged all his students to excel not only as athletes but to also achieve high goals in all their daily lives. Donald touched many lives as a fine teacher and excellent coach. He will be remembered as a driving force to strive for excellence and high achievement. Donald is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Luann Flagg.
