Dolores M. Fountain passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, October 25, 2015, in Kennewick, Washington. She was born February 23, 1932, in Sterling, Colorado to William and Bertha Asnicar. She was the oldest of four children. She lived in Colorado and Texas prior to moving to Kennewick in 1973. Dolores graduated from Hillrose High School in 1949 and attended Colorado State College of Education. She met her soulmate, Duane Fountain, in high school and they later married in 1951 and had three children. They were rarely apart and always best friends. Dolores grew up in a loving family that liked to laugh, enjoyed music, good food, and embraced the zest of their Italian roots. Her family lovingly called her "Tootie". Their Sunday outings after church often included a family picnic and walking the Colorado blowouts after a windstorm in search of arrowheads. Her love for singing and playing the piano was instilled at a young age and gave her great joy throughout her life. She often sang and played in her father's band for local dances. She later used this gift to accompany the children's choir in their church in Amarillo, TX and at many family gatherings. Dolores and her husband were active members of Kennewick First Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. She was a devoted church choir member, served as a deacon, and both were active in their Christ Care study group. She was the church secretary for many years, and loved her church family and all who entered the doors as visitors or in need. Dolores was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Family was at the heart of Dolores' life, but it was her faith in Jesus Christ that gave her strength and directed her life. She left her family a legacy of faith, and was counted to be their faithful prayer warrior. Knowing she was praying for them gave her loved ones peace. She was always present for her family, a consummate and hospitable homemaker and excellent cook who opened her home to family and friends. She had a caring and joyful spirit as she went through her day, often smiling, laughing and singing a tune. Dolores was her family's biggest cheerleader and loved attending her children and grandchildren's activities and sports. She enjoyed gardening, boating and watching the Mariners and Seahawks with her sweetheart. She loved to share a picnic with her family after a day of watching her grandchildren water ski. Dolores was a good steward of all that was entrusted to her and had a Proverbs 31 work ethic. She learned the value of hard work at an early age as she helped her family. After marrying, she worked at several jobs to help her husband complete his senior year in college. She worked as a secretary in Amarillo, TX and later in Kennewick for D Hittle and Assoc. and for Kennewick First Presbyterian Church. Dolores is survived by her husband, Duane Fountain; son, Bill (Janie) Fountain of San Francisco, CA; and daughters, Karen (Pat) Sasser of Amarillo, TX and Laurie (Devin) Harrison of Kennewick, WA; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Asnicar and Marj Chapman of Colorado; and brother, Bill Asnicar of Redding, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy House for their loving care of our beloved wife and mom, Dolores. We also thank their church family for their prayers and loving support. Dolores' celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 2, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kennewick First Presbyterian Church.
