David L. Auckland of West Richland Washington went to be with his Lord Jesus on June 3rd, 2015. David was born April 27, 1935 in Seattle, Washington, to Harry Dolson Auckland and Helen Louise Ensley. David served in the USAF, traveling to England, France, Germany and Africa. He was very patriotic and would always take time to stop and shake any service man's hand and say, "thank you for your service to our country". He met his wife of fifty seven and a half years, Mary Jo Dailey, in the Scottsburg Oregon Community Church. He found Jesus in 1957. He and Mary were married on December 13th of that same year. David is survived by his wife Mary Jo, two sons: Brett and Brad, Brothers; Harry, Robert, Ronald, and Miles; Sisters; Cherie, Roxanne, Rebecca, Christine and Jenny. Six grandsons; Joshua, Jason, Justin, Bryce, Brandon, and Nick. David had eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his sons: Bart and Jim, and youngest brother Randy. David worked at the Hanford Nuclear Site from 1982-1996, as a Nuclear Process Operator, Manager, and Engineer. He was the first manager to lead a team to start the Asbestos Abatement Clean-Up at Hanford Reservation. David loved hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He was a wonderful family man who cared deeply for his wife, sons, brothers, sisters, and friends. A very important part of David's life was music. He came from a musical family and he could recall and sing songs from the 1930's to the present. David was known as a source of spiritual guidance and strength to all who knew him. He was a person of integrity who cared and assisted in helping people who would need encouragement and a word from the Lord. As a Christian man David loved and enjoyed many different services and events. He and Mary spent many years hosting bible studies, and marriage counseling both in their church and home. He especially loved children, who flocked to him each Sunday morning looking for their candy, as he always had a pocketful (children included anyone younger than David!). David and Mary were church elders for over 10 years. Both had the great privilege of traveling to Russia where they assisted with starting churches. Funeral services will be held to honor David on Saturday, July 11 at 12:00pm at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S Union St in Kennewick, Washington.
