D. Keith Barber passed away peacefully on August 7, 2006 at the age of 88. He was born February 10th, 1918 in Hurricane, Utah, the fourth of eight children, to Frank and Sarah Ida Webb Barber. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gloria; three sisters: LaRue Heaton, Beulah Isom, and Leila Sullivan; four children: Lynne Michael Ahlstrom, Lowell Shannon Barber, Paul Luana Barber, and Lorin Robin Barber; and 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Keith was a fully devoted father to his four children and had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching them his favorite hobbies, including fishing and gardening. Keith always attended as many of his grandchildren?s activities as possible. Keith served actively in the Tri-Cities community since moving here in 1953. His service covered both civic and religious affairs. Keith served as the president of the Life Underwriters Association. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America program and served for two years as the president of the Blue Mountain Council. His three sons and many of his grandsons have earned Eagle Scout Awards. Keith was the first bishop of the Pasco Ward in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he served as the first stake president of the Pasco Washington Stake when it was formed in 1967. His charitable service and compassion have blessed the lives of countless people. Keith is known and loved as Dad, Grandpa, bishop, stake president, patriarch, and, especially, as friend. His life will be remembered for his dedicated service, his love for people, and his love for the Lord. Viewing will be Friday, August 11, 2006 from 6-8pm at Mueller?s Tri Cities Funeral Home 1401 S. Union St. Kennewick. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at 1:00pm. at the Gage Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 969 Gage Blvd. in Richland.
