Charles Thomas Morbeck, age 91, passed away on December 30, 2007, at Lourdes Medical Center. Charley, as he was known to family and friends was born on June 10, 1916, in Coeur d? Alene, Idaho. As a young boy, he lived for a short time in Sunnyside, Washington, before moving to Wallace, Idaho, where he helped his father and brother in the grocery business. In high school he played football and ran track. He enrolled at the University of Idaho and, in 1941, earned a BA in Business. Charley and Eleanor Rohrer were married in Coeur d? Alene, December 20, 1941. They recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. A daughter, Connie, was born in December 1942, and the couple, with their new daughter lived in Spokane, where Charley worked in the grocery business. When WWII broke out, Charley was accepted into Officers Training School and received a commission into the Navy. He served on the West Coast, particularly in Alaska, until the War ended. Upon returning from the War, he enrolled in Gonzaga Law School and became an attorney. Charley practiced law in Kennewick until he was in his 70?s. He served as the Municipal Court Judge for a time and earned the moniker, ?Judge Morbeck? from some who knew him. He was a long-time member of the Tri-City Country Club, WA State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Pasco Chamber of Commerce, Washington Athletic Club, Benton County Mounted Posse, and the Tri-City Elks Lodge 2755. He attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kennewick. Charley is survived by his wife Eleanor of Kennewick; daughter Connie husband Joe Buckley of Selah, WA; two granddaughters Stephanie Clark Eisert of Sherwood, OR and Andrea Chris Sperry of Vancouver, WA; great grandchildren Jessica Lane Sperry, Gracie Mae Sperry, Charlie Anne Sperry, Cole Louis Eisert and Sadie Lynne Eisert. He was preceded in death by his parents, March and Florence Morbeck and a brother Frank. Viewing will be Friday, January 4, 2008, 9:00am-8:00pm, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 South Union Street in Kennewick. Services will be Saturday, January 5th, 1:00pm, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
