Catherine Anne Seymer Boothe left us on January 26, 2021 in Richland, Washington, at the too-young age of 70. Catherine is survived by her husband, Gary Boothe of Pasco; daughter Laini Mitchell of Pasco, sons Greg Kraft of Kennewick, Douglas Kraft of Richland and Gabriel Boothe of Kennewick; her sisters Jo Jones and Tommie Sue Kelly of Zillah; and a host of others that she had chosen as her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles Seymer and Roma Harris, and her daughter Amber Boothe. Cathy was born on June 25, 1950 in Toppenish, Washington. She lived in the valley during her early life and eventually settled in the Tri-Cities in the early 1980s. As a master typist armed with a vocabulary that would put Merriam-Webster to shame, she was very successful in her work endeavors. She worked for several Hanford contractors as an Administrative Specialist, eventually retiring from the Fluor Corporation. In 1983 she married Gary Boothe, creating a family that was greater than the sum of it's parts. They settled in Pasco for a long, happy marriage. Cathy was a very creative person, even though she would deny it. She loved to bake; her cookbook collection is legendary. She loved to knit; we all have more scarves and hats and shawls than we could ever wear. She had a life-long love affair with books; reading voraciously, very keen on learning all of the things. But her most creative accomplishment is her family. She had a warm hug for anyone who needed it, a comfy lap for fussy grandkids to sleep on, and good, motherly advice for all those she considered family. She had the kind of laugh that would make her dissolve into gasping tears, and we all delighted in getting her going with a funny joke or story. She loved being Gary's "mean wife Cathy", loved being a mom, and cherished being Grandmom. As happens in life, some relationships end, but Cathy never let go of the people she loved, gathering everyone to her with no reservation. She may be gone from our lives but she left us great memories of good times together, and she left us each other. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a small family funeral, with burial to follow, will be held on February 3rd.
