Carol Evelyn Denton, wife of Oran Daniel Denton for twenty-eight years, finished her task as wife and mother on Sunday, August 27, 2006. She had collapsed on July 5 while enjoying a quiet evening with her husband in their backyard garden. Days later she learned she had acute lymphoblastic leukemia and immediately started chemotherapy. Her Mom, Mary Ellen, and stepfather, Bob, traveled hundreds of miles on two different occasions to be with Carol in her time of need and to support Oran. Her siblings, Karis, Larry, Marlene, and Janette rallied to her support and for the love of their baby sister they donated blood in the hopes of being a match for a bone marrow transplant. But the love of God ushered her home instead. During her final hours in the Critical Care unit of Kadlec Hospital, those who struggled to keep her alive and her church family surrounded her. At her side were her husband, her son Andrew and her daughter Heidi. Her first born, Aaron, was in route from Phoenix, but his heart was with his mom. The watchful and hopeful assembly sang worship songs and prayed for a miracle. Oran quoted Scripture and opened his heart for all to see. While Oran shared one of Carol?s favorite memories, Carol quietly slipped away, not wanting to interrupt her husband?s storytelling. She loved every word he ever spoke, and to her hundreds of internet doll friends she constantly referred to him as her ?awesome hubby?. Carol?s husband and family would like to thank those who valiantly tried to prolong Carol?s life. You are our heroes. Not because you succeeded in saving Carol, but because with kindness and grace and the best of your efforts you tried. Our sorrow is great, but our hope in Jesus Christ is greater still. We grieve, but not as those who have suffered a tragic loss?no, instead we grieve with struggling hearts to be patient for the day when we will be reunited with Carol in the New Heavens and New Earth that Jesus has promised for all those who name His name and walk as he walked. Because Carol is at His side, and because He is holding and comforting us, we continue to feel the nearness of Carol and will never forget her loving, gentle, and joyful spirit. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 10:00a.m. at the Calvary Assembly of God, 1800 Bombing Range Road in West Richland and a graveside service to follow at 1:00p.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
