Obituary

"Fern" was born September 1, 1912, in Allendale, Missouri to Henry Payne and Sarah Ellen Sims. She was raised on a farm outside of Allendale, Missouri and attended school in Allendale and Grant City, Missouri. She then attended Missouri State Teachers College and taught school in a small country school near Allendale. Fern married Lawrence "Larry" Seat and together they raised three children: Joyce Ellen, Darel Lynn and Gary Lawrence. In 1949 Fern, Larry and family moved to Washington, living in Kennewick, Pasco and finally, Burbank. For the past 5 years she has resided at The Vineyard, an adult family home in Kennewick. Fern was very active in church. She played the piano, organ and sang in the choir. She taught Sunday School classes for many years. She and Larry were charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pasco, and Trinity Baptist Church in Burbank. She was also very proud of being Grand Worthy Matron in Eastern Star and a member of Columbia Valley Grange. Fern was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Larry, one brother, Russell Melbourn Sims, and her parents, Henry and Sarah Sims. Fern leaves to miss her very much, her daughter Joyce Rouse and husband Ken, son Darel Seat and wife Mary, son Gary Seat and wife Cheryl. Grandchildren Shauna Guajardo Rudy, Lonnie Rouse Melinda, Eric Seat Selena, Kim Farrell and grandchildren by marriage, Dianne Turner Jerry and Corinne Ray Mark. She also leaves great-grandchildren Kameron, Kendra, Christopher, Austin, Devan, Brennan, Caitlin, Nathan, Jaden, Andre and Stellan as well as great-grandchildren by marriage, Behr, Mara, Jasen, Jennifer, and four great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother Paul Sims, his daughter Debbie Chambers Rick and daughter Kayla.
