Arthur LeRoy Pierce was born to George Columbus Pierce and Vesta Lee Baker Pierce on April 22, 1928, in Idalou, Texas. LeRoy met his wife of almost 76 years when he was 15 and Billie Sue Grimes was 14, when his mother and Billie Sue's parents worked at Pantex, Texas. LeRoy and Sue married right after high school and moved to Cactus, Texas where LeRoy started a 40-year career as a chemist with Phillips Petroleum. While living at Cactus, LeRoy and Sue had three children: Judy, Janette, and Robert. In 1965, LeRoy was transferred from the Cactus plant to the Finley, Washington plant where he worked until 1995 when he retired. LeRoy and Sue have been faithful Christians their whole lives. He served as an elder for the Kennewick Church of Christ from 1966 to 1980, and they were members of the Westside Church of Christ from 1982 to 2001. As retirees, LeRoy and Sue worked for ten years with the Sojourners Group based in Marshall, Texas, traveling in their RV to help churches and children's homes with various projects. LeRoy was preceded in death by both his parents, his brothers Jay (and wife Mary), LC (and wife JoDan), and his sister Mary Waggoner (and husband Julius). He is survived by his wife Billie Sue, his 3 children Judy Ward of Kennewick, Janette Pettey of Kennewick, and Robert Pierce (and wife Susan) of Sunnyvale, TX, 4 grandsons, Cody Pierce (and wife RaeAnn) of Richardson, TX, Michael Dawson (and wife Ashley) of Kennewick, Andy Pierce (and wife Ann) of Reston, VA, Trey Pierce (and wife Holly) of Mesquite, TX, and 11 great grandchildren, Sullivan, Adalyn, and Kenzie Pierce of Richardson, TX, Nolan and Amelia Pierce of Reston, VA, Alexandra, Nathan and Emmett Pierce of Mesquite, TX, Bradley, Zander, and Ryker Dawson, TX of Kennewick. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mountain States Children's Home, 14780 North 107th, Longmont, CO 80504.
