Allan Singleton Potter Jr. was born in Alexandria, Virginia on May 10, 1958. His father died when he was 2 years old and he was raised by his mother until her death when he was 18. He graduated from TC Williams High School in Alexandria in 1976. Al moved to Montana, graduated from Montana State University as a civil Engineer in 1981, and later became a Civil Engineer P.E. (Professional Engineer). After being a surveyor in Bozeman for 10 years he left for Colorado in 1989 and worked for Keiser Engineering. In 1995 he moved to Kennewick and started working for Hanford. In 1997 he formed "Potter Engineering" and did subcontracting for the State of Washington. September of 2017 Allan began working for the City of Pasco as a civil engineer in water restoration. Al was a caring member of the Kennewick Community and through his hard work in the cleaning up of Zintel Canyon, won the Environmental Excellence Award from the State of Washington in 2013. Cycling was a passion for Al. He cycled for most of his life, being a member of the Chinook Club for many years. He loved to ride with "The Boys". Al married the love of his life, Penny, on July 3, 2016. Al went to be with our Lord Jesus on March 10, 2018 while riding his mountain bike behind state patrol. He leaves behind his wife, Penny and step-children, Jon and Amanda Buffington. The celebration of his life will be on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at The Livingroom Church, 1409 S. Garfield Street, at 2:00 PM
